The Granchain Exhibit is a journey through a unique part of world history, the adventure and peril of the French migratory fishery along Newfoundland's "Petit Nord." It showcases Guillaume-Jacques Constant de Liberge de Granchain, an 18th century naval officer, hydrographer, ally in the American Revolution, and protector of the French Shore. Through multi-media, period artifacts, and documentation this celebrated world figure is brought to life. The exhibit outlines his involvement with St. Lunaire Bay and the French Shore and presents the French history of the area from the early 1500s to the signing of the “Entente Cordiale” in 1904.
